The Museum of Natural History http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/8/the-museum-of-natural-history

So the end of the summer is here, but the vacation has NOW just begun.  On our first day of fun, play, and education, the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan was our first stop.  We had 4-5 hours to explore this awesome museum, but that didn't feel like it was enough time.  My daughter loved the dinosaurs, the Planetarium, and of course snacks!  We will need to visit this museum at least another 2 or 3 times to fully grasp the beauty of what it offers to explorers such as ourselves. Here are some images. Thanks mom and daughter!!!!

Electrified Video Shoot http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/8/mjElectrified

I had the opportunity to work once again with a very good friend of mine.  M. Josephine is a very talented singer that I've had the honor to work with on numerous occasions.  I felt even more honored when she called me up and decided to have me shoot her first music video.  As a tribute to legendary producer, J-Dilla, M. Josephine has presented us with a very special treat. Her project, "Donut Soul", in honor of J-Dilla's "Donuts" album, will surely have you ELECTRIFIED.  Adopted from J Dilla's "Dime Piece (Remix) ft. Dwele" (The Shining, 2006)

Please feel free to listen to the project in its entirety here (CLICK FOR LISTEN) and support another very talented independent artist.

Here are some photos from 1/2 of the shoot.  Sheena, M. Josphine & I were on location in Jersey City to finish up the video.

July 1st, 2012 Maternity Shoot http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/7/july-1st-2012-maternity-shoot So I was asked by one of my co-workers to schedule a maternity shoot for her (last minute I must add) before the weekend was out.  She asked me on a Friday, and Sunday afternoon I was all packed up and ready for the shoot!  I pulled up to a beautiful home and had no idea of what to expect.  The only thing that I knew was that I had my speedlites on hand, and we were going to capture as many beautiful moments as possible.  My co-worker had everything planned, the clothing, the stylist, the make-up, and even some shots!  We combined our creative geniuses and had one of the most beautiful Maternity shoots that I've shot thus far.  Grown, beautiful, and free!

Moms truly are wonderful!

Tamron AF 17-50mm F/2.8 SP XR Di II VC (Vibration Compensation) for Canon (Test) http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/3/tamron-af-17-50mm-f/2-8-sp-xr-di-ii-vc-vibration-compensation-for-canon-test Okay.  Over the weekend I headed to Unique Photo to rent a few lenses.  I've never used a Tamron lense before and decided to see how well it worked on my canon body(camera).  I have to admit, the focusing on it was good, but did miss at times. I found myself having a lot more ease in manual mode.  On manual, the lense did capture some nice crisp, sharp images.  The video quality with the vibration compensation was extremely suprising! The color and image quality was very L-series(lol).  The lense was light weight and easy to lug around.  Clean sharp and fast(at times) Overall, the Tamron is a lense that I would definitely use again and possibly buy in the near future.  Here are some test shots.

There's nothing like family, food, and good laughs!  We had the chance to once again capture another heartfelt weekend with family & friends. Our little buddy Tyier had a wonderful weekend bash at a hotel and invited all his friends & family.  The pool was great. So great that we spent a great majority of the time doing some underwater video!!!  Rollerskates, cake, swimming pools, and fun fun fun fun!!!!  That seemed to be the theme of the day! I'm quite sure everyone in attendance had a blast and we all look forward to next year KERA!!!

5days and counting!!! http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/3/5days-and-counting This weekend proved to be a very exciting and invigorating venture! We were honored to capture the beginning moments of another wonderful new born baby girl!  Baby photoshoots are always delicate, simple, lovely, and just so PURE!  This new born was captivated by the occasional flash, but maybe more so by the "new" voices speaking to her.  I'm quite sure she'll one day she will look back at these photos and try her best to remember these MOMENTS.

Hastyle The Barber Video Shoot "Reverse Earth" http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/3/hastyle-the-barber-video-shoot-reverse-earth REVERSE EARTH! That's almost what the weekend felt like! A 60+ degree day in Queens NYC in the middle of March. Hastyle The Barber couldn't have come up with a better title.

We linked up for an early morning video shoot in his home town of Flushing Queens, NYC to film his new single, Reverse Earth.  We began at Hastyle's barbershop where we linked with some of his long time friends and neighborhood partrons & shop owners. It seemed as if Hastyle was recognized by everyone in the neighborhood.  We laughed several times about how the whole experience reminded us of the movie COMING TO AMERICA.  We got a chance to visit his old High School in Jamaica Queens, and then made some other stops around the way. We visited a location that Hastyle had painted a remembrance piece at 10 years prior. The mural was dedicated to those in the Hip-Hop and non-Hip-Hop community that have lost their lives to violence!

The day turned out to be a very long but productive one indeed.  Good rhymes, good visuals, costumes, good laughs, good vibes= A winning combination!

Shabaam Sahdeeq Video Shoot "CRANK" http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/3/shabaam-sahdeeq-video-shoot--crank- Ok, for those music followers that may not know who Shabaam Sahdeeq is, here are a few links to check out some of his previous work.  The music speaks for itself.

EVERY RHYME I WRITE ft. COCOA BROVAZ

OFF THE LEASH ft. MIC HANDZ

WWIII ft. PHAROAHE MONCH

We traveled out to Brooklyn NYC to film the lead song to his latest album entitled "Relentless".  We had time to chat, eat( GOLDEN KRUST & THE LOCAL PAPI BODEGA), laugh, get some drops, and of course speak on the current state of Hip-Hop.  Shabaam shared his experiences on putting together his last tour in Europe, and attributed the success to the constant Grind that he believes all artist need to maintain in order to stay relevant in today's game.  Crank is conceptually based off that same notion, GRINDING, CRANKING UP that last bit of energy to keep on pressing on!  Shabaam's newest release features collabs with Rockness, Hasan Salaam, Nutso and more! Be sure to get the album and support independent artists!

As far as the 'moments' are concerned, Big Brotha Trey, some friends at Shabaam's barbershop, and of course the local BK patrons, helped us with the completion of the video, which will be up and posted shortly. But for now, you can check out some stills from the video CRANK!

7th B-Day Celebration http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/3/7th-b-day-celebration I was given the opportunity to capture some special moments this weekend with a visit to my daughter's co-ballet partner, 7th B-Day celebration.  Of course it was a day full of running, bowling, cake, juice, pizza, and arcade games! Everyone had a blast, and the birthday girl was even more excited to have her picture taken!

Here are some takes of the afternoon:

Welcome little "Si si" http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/3/welcome-little-si-si It's always a wonderful thing when LIFE is brought forth.  We recently were afforded the opportunity to capture some early moments of a new addition to Planet Earth.  Little "Si si" welcomed our cameras into his hospital room for some excellent, early afternoon photos.  He didn't whine, or cry once while the speedlite & sunlight kept him from resting. During a couple of shots, he actually opened up his eyes, as if asking "why are shooting me now....its sleep time!" Whatever it was that he was thinking, we could only imagine. But what we can say for certain, is that "Si si" is one adorable little baby!

Kimani's 1st Bday http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/kimanis-1st-bday Seems like we've been busy capturing events for the past 2-3 weeks. We've so far done a baby shower, a music event, a school event, and now a very special 1st birth-day.

I actually had the honor and privilege to bring my daughter out with me to this shoot. She enjoyed herself. The kids, the games, the cake, the juice, and the X-Box Kinect were all hits.  The adults were sometimes more involved with it than the kids.  I tested the gadget out and I must say, it is a fine piece of technology.

Anyhow, we were able to capture some fun moments from Kimani's 1st bday celebration, and we plan on returning next year if Mom & Dad decides to have another one for their very special bundle of joy.

Universol Photo Shoot http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/universol-photo-shoot Some time ago, we met with Hip-Hop recording artist UNIVERSOL in Newark New Jersey for a Transit photo shoot.  The weather was beautiful, the mood was mellow, and we captured some very good shots.  You can check out some of his work here!

Comic Con 2011 http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/comic-con-2011 I know we're a little late in documenting our coverage of Comic Con 2011, but nonetheless, we finally got around to showing some of the wonderful toys, costumes, and Super-People.

We had the opportunity to cover Comic Con once again and enjoyed every single moment of the event. The Jacob Javitz Center in Manhattan was packed to capacity. There were celebrities that ranged from Virgil (former bodyguard for the Million Dolla Man Ted Dibiase) to Bill Campbell.  So many toys and comics were being displayed, we almost didn't know where to begin.

As  former comic book collectors, we sought to catch some footage of the famous Comic artist, Jim Lee...but (:/) we couldn't get around to the area once he began signing books.  Don't fret, because we did get some pretty cool shots of some of the comic characters that he has covered in plenty of issues for our viewing and entertainment consumption.

Below are some of the many many pictures taken that day, and also some footage taken by Crazy Al Cayne (another good blogger & videographer) that we ran into. He actually interviewed Venomous2000, the creator of V2Gphotography.com and showed alot of support with his movement.  We appreciate good brothers like Al, and others that are in the pursuit of building their business, talents, and connections.

Paterson Sports Business Academy http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/paterson-sports-business-academy Today was another exciting day of photography. We were invited to the Sports & Business Academy in Paterson New Jersey to shoot with some of the school's academic after-school program.  Coordinator, Rakerah Pearson requested that our company capture some of the students to help introduce them to the world of photography, and also to help facilitate the launch of their new brochure & school newsletter.

We had lots of fun with the young scholars, who shared some of their future endeavors.  Some wanted to travel out of state to become future teachers. Others wanted to manage their own industry in fashion, sports, and medicine.  It turned out to be a very informative and exciting shoot that we undoubtedly know was just as invigorating for the students!  Here are some of the moments we captured.

The Most Efficient Video Shoot (Venomous2000 & Scifi Stu) http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/the-most-efficient-video-shoot--venomous2000---scifi-stu-

The Most Efficient is a song featured on Hip-Hop artist, Venomous2000' album entitled "A Moment To Reflect II"  The song was produced by Scottish producer Scifi Stu who has produced for underground legends such as Vast Aire, L.I.F.E.Long and many more.  The two artists collaborated after meeting on Facebook via fellow friends and artists.  The chemistry the two visionaries share is apparent through this song and another project that they worked on prior to putting together The Most Efficient.

Scifi Stu was interested in putting together a new single to ring in the new year and build up some promotion before the drop of his latest project "Blood".  Venomous2000 thought that it would be a good idea to assemble some fellow New Jersey HipHop artists. He pulled Cymarshall Law (1/2 Everlivin Sound) John Robinson (Lil Sci of Scienz Of Life) El Da Sensei (1/2 The Artifacts) & DJ Priority.  Together, the 4 emcees, 1 producer, & 1 DJ created a timeless piece of work that has gained recognition by some very well known Blogs & Radio Stations worldwide.

The video was shot down in New Brunswick, NJ  The video features guest appearances by Tone Liv, Fallen Anglez, Ras Ujima, & ID 4Windz (Scienz Of Life).

You can download the album A MOMENT TO REFLECT II, which features this song, and many other great songs. You will not be disappointed in supporting a project such as this.

The Wedding of Marlon & Mary Sheppard http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/the-wedding-of-marlon---mary-sheppard Marlon & Mary are a very special couple. Their love & genuine appreciation of each other is apparent in all of their doings.  They both share a sense of humor, an appreciation of good music, and a love for family. I was very excited to be a part of this wonderful experience to capture some very precious moments for the couple.

This was another wedding that held special meaning to me, simply because Marlon is one of my 8 brothers.  He asked me to be a part of the wedding, and I sure was.  I was officiating as the usher and camera-man. A very unique job title for the day/night.  I loved every single moment of the wedding and was glad to be of service to my brother and his lovely wife.

9th Prince & Inspectah Deck Video Shoot http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/9th-prince---inspectah-deck-video-shoot A fellow brother in Hip-Hop (A.B. Zulu) sent me a message about the 9th Prince looking for a videographer to work on a single that he was putting together.  He sent my info over to the 9th Prince of Wu-tang's affiliate group KILLARMY.  About a week or two later, i received a phone call from 9th and the song he wanted to shoot a video for. He told me that he would be scheduling a day for us to head over to Staten Island to shoot work for the song with him & Inspectah Deck (original Wu-Tang Clan member)

I contacted a fellow videographer (UnaSolaVida's very own Kody C.) to help me out with the project. At the time, it was THE biggest project that I was going to embark on.  I figured the more resources, the easier the work load, and the better we would both be.  It turned out to be the smartest and best thing I could have done.

We met up with 9th and Deck in front of the very same building that the Wu-Tang Clan filmed and documented numerous videos from.  It's also the very same housing complex that Inspectah Deck and some other Wu members group up in.  It was very insightful and informative, discussing the success of Wu-Tang, and how Deck is still making himself relevant in today's industry.

The song, Never, Never will be featured on the 9th Prince's new album, scheduled to release mid-late 2012. More details of the album can be found at 9thPrince.com  Video will premiere Spring 2012

Here are some photos captured by V2G's Big Brotha Trey during the shoot & a special shout out by Inspectah Deck.

New R & B venture for V2G http://www.v2gphotography.com/blog/2012/2/new-r---b-venture-for-v2g We recently had the opportunity to link with Jersey City, New Jersey based producer DJ Irs & singer Danielle Martin.  The two artists are working on a wonderful sounding EP that will sure to gain them much attention once the project is completed.

I've known DJ Irs for over 8 years or so, when we first met down in New Brunswick as I was attending Rutgers University. We are both fellow Hip-Hop artists and it was inevitable for us to cross paths. We've been friends ever since.

When i got the call from DJ Irs to begin work on his new single, I jumped to the occassion. I was excited for two reasons: 1. It would be the first R & B project, and 2. I knew the song was going to be awesome.  Needless to say, DJ Irs & Danielle Martin did not disappoint.

I have to add that DJ Irs brought out his family and we began shooting about 11am in downtown Jersey City on the coldest day of 2012.  The shoot went well, especially during the times we rushed to warm up and run back out to get the rest of the shots done.  It turned out to be a very productive day, that i'm quite sure we will all remember.

The video is nearing completition and is expected to premiere very shortly. Visit http://djirs.com/ for details, music, and prior videos.

We've posted a couple shots taken from the video shoot.
